An update from Lazarus

Hi everypawdy 

Sorry I didn’t get to update you last month I’ve been looking after my mom as she has been really stressed revising for her university exam after work. I have been helping to keep her calm by pulling silly faces at her and making her giggle and making sure I’m there for her to stroke as that calms her (and hey I love fuss so great for me too). 

Mom is really excited as soon she says I am ready to take my public access test – this is the test that makes sure I am ready to go out and work with my m everywhere she goes (although she says I won’t be going to work with her as she has lots of help there and so that means I can have some time off to put my paws up and rest) I will be helping everywhere else from doing the shopping to just popping out for a walk. 

The test is really hard but it has to be to make sure that I am impeccably behaved when out and about in places doggies don’t normally go. 

So from making sure I can get in and out of the car properly waiting for my lead to be put on and my jacket, to making sure I can go through doorways nicely and I don’t get distracted by all the people and food. 

The food bit is hard as I love food but I know that even if it’s dropped on the floor right under my nose I can’t have it (but that’s ok as I get a big treat when I get home). 

The bit I found hard was the shopping trolley, it’s really big and loud and rattles but I now know that good stuff come from this big metal contraption like treats lots of treats! 

People sometimes comment that I look bored as I hardly ever wag my tail when I’m working (mom calls it my concentration tail – I only have half a tail after an accident when I was born as I was a big fatty and got stuck) but I do so love helping mom and as soon as we get home I do zoomies round the garden and then have a sleep on the settee 😆

Mom says as soon as she has finished her exams this year we can work on taking the test I’m really excited but also nervous mom says if I don’t pass first time that’s ok it just means we need to work on a few things a bit more and then we can try again she knows I will try my very hardest for her, so watch this space and I’ll keep you all updated 🙂
